| Louis
Roque : The story of a passion |
 |
Up to
the late nineteenth century, the members of the Roque family
had been distillers from fathers to sons. Louis, the third of
his generation, decided in 1905 to have his independence by
settling in Souillac, in the site of an ancient convent. In
a short time, the young man became the local specialist of plum
brandy…
He was rapidly renowned for his know-how and he started to distil
for his own-business, perries from plums he was supplied with
by the local farmers. He kept his production into oaks where
the spirit aged slowly, under close checking.
In his still-houses located in different parts of the town,
he dedicated his time to the maturing, and meticulous blendings,
while his house, right in the heart of Souillac, was used as
a shop. |
Louis
soon became a local V.I.P. and one of his daughter married the
Count Duffour de Raymond.
This very daughter took over the firm after her father's death
and ensured, until her last days, the respectful applications
of his precepts.

| The
know-how which was transmitted for five generations secured
the durability of the distillery, located since 1992 in premises
of character and now run by Louis Roque's grand-son. |
